Who we are
Sitevaro is run by James Swift, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. James Swift is the data controller for your personal data, which means we decide how and why it is used. Contact: builtbyswift@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
- Account details (email, password, first name) — to create and run your account. Legal basis: contract.
- Course data (progress, lesson answers, Website Plan, AI helper name, AI experience level) — to provide the course and personalise it. Legal basis: contract.
- Things you type into AI tools (questions, website descriptions, website links you submit for review) — to generate answers and feedback. Legal basis: contract.
- Support messages — to help you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Technical data (IP address, device and browser details, basic usage logs) — for security, fraud prevention and fixing problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Purchase records (whether you have paid) — to unlock paid lessons and meet legal obligations. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
Card details are collected by Paddle, not by us.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting, database and AI model providers.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for selling the course, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers, where needed.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
We never sell your data.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep account and course data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (such as purchase records, usually 6 years).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, access controls and secure password storage.
Cookies and storage
We only use essential cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your progress and AI helper chats. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
